A practical myQaura guide

Keep your story.
Keep a backup.

A local vault belongs to this browser and this website address. Clearing site data, losing your browser profile or losing your device can remove it. An encrypted backup and its passphrase are your recovery route.

Save an encrypted backup

  1. Open your own care space and go to Privacy & settings.
  2. Choose Save backup. The downloaded file ends in .qaura.
  3. Keep a copy somewhere you control, preferably beyond this device.
  4. Keep the passphrase safe. Qaura cannot recover or reset it.

The backup contains all profiles, attachments and Johari reflections. The fictional demo cannot export a personal backup.

A gentle reminder, when you need one

Your care space can show a quiet reminder when a first backup is needed or recorded care changes are waiting for a fresh copy. You can choose Remind me next week or turn reminders off in Privacy & settings. The visit-summary screen also offers a backup when there are changes to protect.

Privacy & settings shows the last backup download request and recorded care changes since then. Check that the file actually arrived; the app cannot confirm where you kept it.

Check that you can recover it

Before relying on a backup, test opening a copy in another browser or a separate browser profile that has no existing myQaura vault. Choose Open an encrypted backup, select the file and enter its passphrase. Check the contents without deleting the original vault.

Restoration will not silently overwrite an existing saved vault. Earlier .caura backups remain supported.

A new address is a different vault location

A vault saved at the earlier preview address does not automatically appear at qaura.app. Export an encrypted backup from the original address, then restore it at qaura.app. Keep the original until the restored contents have been checked.

A summary is a readable document

Print / save PDF in an appointment creates a selected visit summary. It is readable by anyone who gets that file. It is not an encrypted full-vault backup and cannot restore your care space.

Johari reflections stay out of visit summaries. An encrypted full backup includes them.

Use the privacy controls deliberately

In Privacy & settings, choose Ask for storage protection. The browser may grant or decline the request. This helps with automatic storage eviction; it does not prevent deliberate site-data deletion, device loss or a lost passphrase.

The curtain hides your care space on screen. Lock closes the unlocked space and requires the passphrase to reopen it. The app locks a real vault after inactivity and checks time away when you return. Encryption does not protect what is displayed on an unlocked or compromised device.

Keep your device, browser and operating system updated. Browser persistent-storage permission can help, but does not replace backups.

If a backup will not open

Check that it is the original complete .qaura or .caura file, that you are using its matching passphrase and that it has not been changed. Do not clear your working vault or send health records by email while troubleshooting.
